Presentation:

The International Pediatric Simulation Society (IPSS) is a global community of pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric nurses, advanced practice providers, educators, and other allied health professionals from over 30 countries. IPSS members are all dedicated to improving the care of infants and children worldwide through multi-disciplinary, simulation-based education, training, and research in pediatric simulation. The IPSS organization and its volunteer leadership strive to bring the knowledge and skills we have gained to the widest possible audience and welcome all healthcare professionals who care for children and infants regardless of where you practice.

Meet the Speaker: 

Jabeen Fayyaz, MBBS, DCH, MCPS, FCPS, MHPE, PhD Scholar

Assistant Professor, Pediatric Emergency Medicine Staff Physician - University of Toronto, The Hospital for Sick Children

Jabeen Fayyaz, PEM, is a Staff Physician at the Hospital for Sick Children and Assistant Professor, University of Toronto. Jabeen graduated from Pakistan and worked as Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) faculty at Aga Khan university hospital (AKUH) for 5 years. Jabeen was among the few leaders in Pakistan that had the EM specialty recognized by College of Physician and surgeon of Pakistan back in 2011. Later, Jabeen worked at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) for 3 years and led the implementation of Canadian Triage and Acuity scale (CTAS), followed by a quality improvement initiative utilizing the LEAN Sigma methodology. In 2016, Jabeen started my PEM fellowship at Sick Kids followed by one year Simulation fellowship. Jabeen holds a master’s degree in health professional education from Aga Khan University hospital in 2018 and is currently enrolled as a PhD candidate at the MGH IHP, Harvard. At Sick Kids, Jabeen is the PEM international fellowship program director, and resuscitation lead. Jabeen is alsothe IPSS INPSIRE fellowship chair and is a Board of Director member for both INSPIRE and IPSS. In last 3 years, she has worked with Indus hospital and health network to implement a simulation-based PEM curriculum for EM residents and one year PEM certification program with 27 physicians currently enrolled from all over Pakistan.
